Well, the subject says it all. With Bearshare not working anymore, I was looking for an accessible alternative for finding music besides torrents. Any suggestions?

Soulseek is one that's quite usable, and there are jaws scripts at www.jfwlite.com. Just recompile the soulseek.jss file, and it will work.

yeah but isn't soulseek prone to all the same issues that limewire and bearshare and the others were prone do with the rampid spread of viruses seeing as how there are alot of mis labelled files and noo one ever checks file sizes?

dc plus plus is also good, and they're mutch more strict there. For starters you must have a large collection, at least thirty gigs or more to connect to a hub, and hub owners will grab your list, and if they see you're fake sharing, or sharing viruses, you will be banned instantly.

I think for some of them you don't have to have 30 gigs, but you'll have to ask spike. Another site is mp3raid.com

mp3raid, isn't that another site like tunecup? I always wonder if these sites are running some scripts that can infect you right from the browser.

I don't know, what's tune cup? I've never had a problem with mp3raid, they've had everything I've searched for.

DC++ is indeed accessible, as music master91 had said. The only issue is that you have to share allot of data, depending on the hub you want to join. There are hubs where you need to share between 3 gb-120 gb to get in. The other thing about dc++ is that you have to leave the system that you're running it on, as long as people have stuff queued from you. It's been a while since I've been back on dc++, but its useful for finding rare stuff. The bigger the data share limit to get in, the rarer stuff you will find, usually.

I use torrents mainly but also use kceasy. It works very well and uses many networks to find your music.

the question about soulseak wth regards to viruses: it's not the same over there. You can get banned from the network if you don't share, if you don't have organized folders, if you have infected files, etc etc. Kind of like dc, but only one hub.
